FAQ

Common questions about the recovery process.

Answers to the questions we hear most often from individuals and businesses considering a claim.

Is this a legitimate service, or a scam?+

Great Basin Financial Services Group is a licensed claims representative firm. Unclaimed property recovery is a regulated, legal industry — states and institutions require formal authorization (such as a Power of Attorney) before releasing funds to a third-party representative, and we operate strictly within those requirements.

How much does it cost to work with you?+

Nothing upfront. We work on a contingency basis, meaning our fee is only deducted from funds that are successfully recovered on your behalf. If we don't recover anything, you owe us nothing.

How do you find unclaimed property?+

We search records held by state unclaimed property divisions, financial institutions, insurance companies, and corporate holders across all 50 states, then verify any matches against your identity or business records.

What is a Power of Attorney, and why do I need to sign one?+

A limited Power of Attorney authorizes us to act on your behalf when filing a claim with a state or institution. It's narrowly scoped to the specific claim we're pursuing and does not grant broader authority over your finances.

How long does the recovery process take?+

Timelines vary by jurisdiction and property type. Simple state-held claims can resolve in a few weeks; claims involving insurance carriers, securities transfer agents, or corporate holders may take longer. We keep you updated at each stage.

What types of property can you help recover?+

Dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, matured insurance and annuity benefits, unclaimed dividends and securities, business accounts payable, and funds owed to trusts and estates.
